ViewSonic ViewPad 7 7-Inch Android 2.2 Tablet - Black (Wifi & Unlocked 3G)

I read [and re-read] the reviews on this site for Viewpad7 and all others...finally got it on Feb 19, 2011, because wanted [NOW] an android tab with SIM unlocked [Huawei S7 is the other one out there - but don't buy a poor battery, resistive screen android 2.1 brick for 299 and tax S7 Android Tablet (WiFi, 900/2100 3G, 7-inch Screen)]. There is no 'viewing angle' issue as someone has pointed out [of course some deterioration at acute angles lower than 30 degrees], the WiFI is super stable [on a b network] and the whole Android mktplace is there for you. Downloaded TIME mag, Weather.com, Yahoo Mail/Finance, youtube apps and am up and running. While youtube works very well this DOES NOT have a flash enabled browser. Of course Dolphin/Skyfire etc. may help there. Wife is happy she gets her Facebook, Y!mail, Goog calendar updates,Picasa all neatly integrated on a well designed notification screen - tap, tap, tap and there she goes. Kids impressed with the youtube and Voice search feature. The capacitive screen is just fine and virtual keyboard comes with Swype and works well. Password entry is good. Do turn on 'predictive text' - you will find it very valuable. Ordered a 16GB card with it, haven't got to use it yet, system says 110 MB still available. As noted by community the T-Mobile SIM works just like a charm and the phone design is great [checked out a conference call - b/n my cell, wife's cell and land line - Ha!] - BUT the voice comes out on a speakerphone, so public use is…

ViewSonic ViewPad 10 10.1-Inch Dual Boot Tablet (Black)

It is a nice responsive pad, but there are several issues:1. 16GB of memory is touted for this product, but I find that most of that is taken up by the OS installation leaving about 2GB available. WUWT?2. Android let's you turn WiFi and Bluetooth on/off independently, but in Windows, they con only be both on or both off. When I tether the Viewpad to my Blackberry with BT, the WiFi is just wasting battery. Come on, let me have independent control of wifi and BT.3. I need to get a non-glare protective film.4. When will I be able to update Android? I can't tether to my Blackberry in Android 1.6

Viewsonic V10P_1BN7PUS6_02 ViewPad 10Pro 10.1-Inch Dual OS Tablet (Black)

I bought this tablet because it had great specifications. I tried to install Norton anti-virus and the tablet locked up. I emailed Viewsonic and tech support told me to hookup an external USB cdrom drive and a USB keyboard and a USB mouse in order to fix the issue. Unfortunately the tablet has only one USB port so tech support told me to go out and buy a USB hub.You have to buy a USB keyboard,a USB mouse an external USB cdrom drive, and a USB hub in order to fix this piece of crap.As all of you know when you get the Windows black screen on boot up, a tablet without a keyboard is a piece of junk since you can't access the touch screen to choose safe mode(a diagnostic boot). When the tablet finally booted in normal mode the touch screen was dead and would not accept input. Everyone that reads this review knows Windows problems and why Microsoft cannot get the majority of Windows XP users to upgrade to later versions of Windows. An enormous amount of money is spent on programs to fix windows (registry errors, etc). Over the years I have spent more money on programs to fix Windows than I spent on Windows itself. My wife had to have a Windows tablet for one particular application so I bought this tablet for her. Everyone in the industry is aware of Microsoft's issues. I never dreamed that Viewsonic would sell a product they knew would have problems running Windows but provided no way to get the touchscreen to work even if Windows crashed. How can you fix a Windows problem when the…

Viewsonic V7X_1RNA2US3_01 ViewPad 7-Inch Android 3.2 Honeycomb Tablet

This new Viewpad 7x from Viewsonic is a major step backwards from its predecessor -- the Viewpad 7.The original Viewpad 7 was unique in that it had built-in unlocked 3G.This meant that you could simply open the slot at the top and insert any provider's SIM card and connect to their network. This was tremendous for frequent travelers. For example, I go to Russia frequently. It is a joy to be able to remove my US SIM card upon arrival in Moscow, and put in a Russian SIM Card and have full connectivity.Certainly the new Viewpad 7x has a newer version of Anddroid and looks a little more snappy than the old one (the old one looks just like an iPhone on steroids)--but the loss of functionality does not compensate. However klugey looking, the previous version was a fully usable phone as well as a tablet.So-thumbs down on Viewsonic for caving in and not continuing to provide unlocked 3G capability in its new product.

Archos 80 G9 250GB - Turbo HDD

I bought this model from B&H due to its availability over amazon's. I love the 250 GB model as I prefer to have the capacity for all of my favorite applications, videos, and music on my tablets without having to switch the SD cards with the smaller capacity models. There are vast improvements over the Archos 70 250 G model which I also own. I would share some of the observations here :Initial SetupIt is pretty easy to run the setup as it navigates you through the steps the first time we powered it on. I ran into issues of not being able to connect to my home Wifi when I went through the initial setup. After I downloaded the latest firmware updates to my desktop and did a manual upgrade to the Archos 80 G9, everything ran fine. Interestingly, I ran into the same networking issues with the Archos 70. The instruction for upgrading the firmware manually is available on the Archos support website.Display and SoundThe display is much nicer 70 with a brighter screen and better viewing angle as compared to the Archos. However, it still does not match the quality of the more popular tablets like the Kindle Fire and Asus Transformer which I also own. The unit's speaker produces adequate volume but the quality is not great. I have no problem with the multi-touch screen and it seems to be quite sensitive. The Archos 80 G9 250 GB model weighs 23 oz vs 15 oz for the Archos 70, quite a bit heavier in comparison.System and stabilityThis Turbo version runs pretty fast and is quite noticeable…

ARCHOS 101 Internet Tablet 16GB

I have been interested in a tablet since the iPad was first introduced. Only problem is my gadgets at home are all PC and my phone is HTC EVO android phone. I have been looking for a device that is inter changeable with all my gadgets and the iPad will not do the job. I almost bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab but the 7" isn't that much bigger than my Evo's 4.3" I was then looking at the Motorola Zoom WiFi and although that seemed like a match, the higher price point as well as the weight and battery life was a consideration. There are others I've looked at and then I came across the Archos 101 and I've read all the review and decided this is probably the one. So now that I've had this device for 2 weeks I decided to write a review. I will keep it simple as I possibly could.Pros:1. It's wide screen. It doesn't try to look like an iPad like some of the other tablets out there.2. The available ports are a PLUS. HDMI, USB micro and mini. Bottom line is I can plug in my flash card on the USB port and it plays my movies. The mini HDMI can plug in to my HDTV and I have HD viewing.3. It's a PC, so I can locate my movies stored in the computer in the other room and play it on my Archos Tablet. The other day I was streaming via WiFI, a movie on my tablet as it's connected to my TV and watching it on my big screen; from 2 bedrooms away. The iPad can't do that. No ports.4. The battery life. No exaggeration here when I say that when the monitor on the Archos is off, you don't have…

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus 16GB (Dual Core, Universal Remote, WiFi)

I have purchased and used the following tablets for myself, my woman and our kids:* Nook Color - 2x (Favorite for the kids)* Acer Iconia A100 7 - Returned after 2 days; horrible battery life just reading books: 3 1/2 hours max.* HTC Flyer WiFi - *awesome* tablet. For $300, it's a compelling choice. Well worth it over the Nook Color/Amazon Fire.* Archos 80 G9 - Returned after 2 days. Bulky, horrible screen design flaw, bad battery life (~4 hrs) and keyboard was so laggy it was unusable.I say all this because I *know* 7" tablets. And my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus is my favorite, hands down. You can't go wrong with this device and its only real competitor in the 7" space is the HTC Flyer, which isn't nearly as fast, and runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) vs the Galaxy's 3.2 (Honeycomb).EDITED: Corrected HTC Flyer's android version number from 2.2 to 2.3.

ViewSonic ViewPad 10 VPAD10_AHUS_05 Wi Fi/Bluetooth 10.1-Inch Tablet Computer - Black

I've had my Viewpad dual over a month now. I like it. I wanted a replacement for my ageing laptop and I found it.Using Windows 7 for tablets works just fine. I have upgraded to Android 2.2 and it is OK for some things but is a work in progress. I can use Windows as I have always done and can learn how to use Android on the same device.Hardware wise, the Viewpad is fast. The Intel processor, DD3 mem, and fast Solid State Device (SDD storage) provides very good performance. However, 16gig SDD is not enough for Windows 7 and Android. There is less that 2gig available for other functions. I have cut out some Windows functions and made available more space. The Android side has one real problem. It thinks the Viewpad is a phone!!! So some APPs I have tries won't install. You MUST have a USB keyboard for the Android upgrade. I found a USB keyboard/trackball combo that works great. I also use it for serious typing and internet browsing. At less that 2 lbs the Viewpad is very very portable. It sits all the time on the kitchen table in it's little (picture frame) holder. Then I can pick it up and take it anywhere (WiFi availability). Oh, Solitaire on a touch screen works great too.

10.2

I got this tablet about a month ago and it is just what i needed. It is a little bit heavier than the ipad but there is so much more you can do on it. This tablet is pretty much the same as a desktop computer. The battery life is rather short but that is expected. If you have ever used a desktop computer it is exactly the same except that this tablet is portable and somewhat lightweight. There are not any apps like on the android tablets. This tablets works great but it all depends on what you need it for.

ViewSonic ViewPad 10 VPAD10_APUS_05 Wi Fi/Bluetooth 10.1-Inch Tablet Computer - Black

I really like the Viewpad10 so far. I can't believe all of these people buying ipads and other non-windows tablets. Though I am sure they make great paper weights, I'm not sure what they are good for.. . . This is real, full-functioning computer instead of an over-sized phone--that doesn't make phone calls. (I don't use the Android OS.)

ViewBook VB730 7-Inch Android 2.2 Wi-Fi/BT Tablet - Black

I have had the ViewBook 730 for about 3 weeks. I have used most Apple products and have a iPad2 and iPhone4. I also have an original Nook for about a year for reading. I was intrigued with the Android OS since I have a Linux laptop and was interested in trying the 7 inch size which I prefer for reading. My children have usurped my Nook whenever I turn my back and I wanted another reliable ereader. So far I am pleased with my purchase. The Kindle app works wonderful just as well as on my iPad and iPhone. The size is comfortable for reading and the backlit screen is nice for my daughter to read in the car while driving home at night. Web surfing is decent. The Wifi connection is not as strong as with my iPad. I have to be closer to the router for good signal. If I am downstairs I sometimes have to move to a closer room for decent signal. It is nice to have Flash for certain Web sites but it can run slow at times. The integrated Amazon store apps work well for MP3 downloads and certain Android apps but is not as complete as Android Market. I have not figured out yet how to get Android Market on this device. I do like that Amazon App store gives away a paid app each day and have picked up some nice games for the kids. The screen is a cross between a resistive and capacitive. The included pen works for certain things easier and the finger for other things. Overall not as intuitive as the Apple screens but it is also less than half the cost of the cheapest iPad. Battery life is good…

Dell Streak 7 4G Android Tablet (T-Mobile)

Got the Dell Streak 7 just yesterday, and spent all night customizing it. Now before getting this, I only had a MyTouch 3G,and let me say, the change is insane. I played and demo'd both the Tab and Streak at the store at the same time, and aside from the brighter screen resolution (which I think an additional 100$ doesn't justify), there's not much difference. At first glance, the Streak might be slower, but that's because of Dell's own widgets all over the place. Once you clear that up, its blazingly fast. As someone also mentioned before, it runs on dual processors, so when Honeycomb (Android 3.0) comes out, it will be eligible for the upgrade and it will be even better. The expandable SD card slot is also a godsend. Portability is also an excellent quality, over the 300$ increase in price just for a bigger one in the iPad.

ARCHOS 101 Internet Tablet 8GB

Is the Archos 101 an ipad, no. But does it do just about everything, yet TONS more. YES!The build quality is actually pretty good, no it's not made out of the same material as a Macbook Pro or the ipad. But it's actually pretty well built for only being $299. I mean really, you can't expect to much for $299.This device for the price is actually very good. I love mine. I have a 32GB MicroSD in mine and I have plenty of Storage. Android 2.2 should be dropping on the device any day now. I heard tomorrow.. Just a few things that make the Archos 101 way better than the ipad are: Camera, USB Host Slot, Micro USB Slot, MicroSD Slot, HDMI OUT IS HUGE FOR ME. oh and it runs Android. That little Green Robot that is taking over the world.HDMI out works great to my TV. Watching movies are extremely clear and audio sync's fine, Playing games also works great over HDMI. Overall this is a great device. I can access data or files over my network wirelessly, from the internal storage, the MicroSD Storage, and even a USB stick, or USB Hard Drive all at the same time with this thing. So technically it's storage space is unlimited.. This thing rocks!
